National Technical University of Ukraine 'Kyiv Polytechnic Institute' is one of the oldest and largest technical universities in Europe. It was founded in 1898. NTUU KPI is famous for its academic excellence and leading innovative research.

Kiev Polytechnic Institute became the foundation for the broadening and reinforcing of higher education networks in Kyiv and Ukraine. From 1922 to 1933, and later, some KPI departments and colleges were transformed into the following institutes:
Institute of Railroad Engineers in Dnipropetrovsk; Institute of Marine Engineering in Odessa ; Textile Institute in Kharkiv; Institute of Civil Aviation Engineers in Kyiv; Ukrainian Academy of Agriculture; Road-Transport Institute in Kyiv; Technology Institute of Light Industry in Kyiv; Vinnytsa Polytechnic Institute; Institute of Industrial Engineering in Cherkasy; Technology Institute in Chernihi.
